Waste Water Treatment Works Systems

Real projects showing the visible impact of Ultra-Oxygen across wastewater treatment, irrigation, and open water applications.

Spier Wastewater Treatment Works

A one-month bioremediation trial | October–November 2024

Ultra-Oxygen conducted a bioremediation trial at Spier’s Wastewater Treatment Works, combining micro and ultrafine bubble technology with DRYLET biocatalyst to improve wastewater treatment performance.

The trial integrated Ultra-Oxygen bubble generators in Bioreactors 1 and 2 and the Ying-Yang Dam, alongside BIO REACT and AQUA ASSIST biocatalysts.

Observed results

  • Bioreactors: Following the trial, clearer water and improved settling were observed, with no visible floating solids in the documented results.
  • Reedbed channel: The report documented the removal of algae and improved water visibility, allowing the bottom of the channel to be seen.
  • Outlet flow: The report recorded visibly clearer water following treatment.

Waterfall Estate – Open-Water Eco-Water Systems

Jukskei River Irrigation and Dam Rehabilitation Project | September 2025 – February 2026

The Waterfall Estate project involved implementing an integrated water treatment system to improve water quality in the Jukskei River irrigation and dam network. The system combines Ultra-Oxygen™ micro and ultrafine bubble technology, biocatalyst-driven biological treatment, floating Vetiver filtration and ozone–oxygen treatment.

Treatment approach

The integrated system uses four treatment processes:

  • Ultra-Oxygen™ technology: Enhances oxygen transfer to support aerobic treatment processes.
  • Biocatalyst activation: Supports microbial activity and the breakdown of organic matter.
  • Floating Vetiver filtration: Provides root-zone filtration, nutrient uptake and additional biological treatment.
  • Ozone–oxygen treatment: Supports biological treatment through increased oxygen availability.

Measured results

The project report recorded the following improvements in the irrigation dam between December 2025 and February 2026:

Water quality indicatorRecorded improvement
Total Suspended Solids (TSS)96% reduction
Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD)Approximately 40% reduction
Water colourMore than 69% improvement
Dissolved Oxygen (DO)Increased from 3.4 to 5.81 mg/L through the system

Project outcome

The integrated treatment system delivered measurable improvements in water quality while operating under variable inflow and challenging environmental conditions. The project demonstrates the application of integrated ecological water treatment within existing open-water irrigation infrastructure.

Note: The reported measurements relate to specific sampling locations and dates. The before-and-after photographs illustrate visual changes and should not be interpreted as laboratory measurements.
